The vibes are pretty low-key this week
College Football: A&M at Notre Dame is most interesting game.

This week's Upset Alert Saturday edition of College Football 2025 may stray from the norm a bit.
Read: Got no real strong feelings that a major surprise is in the offing.
Seriously. Would anyone be taken aback if, say, big-name underdogs Tennessee, Florida, Texas A&M or Georgia Tech (OK, once upon a time a big name) knocked off the likes of Georgia, LSU, Notre Dame or Clemson?
None of those favorites have played lights-out football yet this season, and, frankly, the fact Clemson remains ranked as high as it is AND is favored to win in Atlanta against the Yellow Jackets is positively mind-boggling.
No preseason playoff contender, never mind one with supposedly legit national-title aspirations, has looked so pathetically feeble thus far.
Cade Klubnik's Heisman campaign teetered in a season-opening home loss to LSU before coming to a crash test-dummy end last week in a "win" against Troy.
Probably the most intriguing matchup on the slate is the 16th-ranked Aggies (2-0) squaring off against the Fighting Irish (0-1) in South Bend, Ind., on Saturday night at 7:30.
A year ago, ND scored 10 points in the game's final 1:54 to prevail 23-13 in College Station.
Both teams have new QBs, the Irish with C.J. Carr taking over from Riley Leonard and A&M with Marcel Reed's emergence later last season leading to Conner Weigman's transfer to Houston. Reed, the Aggies' passing and rushing leader so far in '25, clearly is an upgrade. The jury is still out on Carr.
The Irish didn't look great at Miami in their opener two weeks ago. But they didn't look awful, either, losing by just a field goal with 1:04 to go, as the focal point of their offense -- overrated RB Jeremiyah Love -- was a virtual no-show with 33 meaningless yards on 10 carries.
Frankly, diminutive A&M WR Mario Craver, a transfer from Mississippi State who is ninth in the country with 236 receiving yards and 3 TDs, including a 72-yarder, seems to be much more likely to impact the game in a big way.
So, favored by 6.5 points, ND certainly isn't a "lock" ... but neither is A&M with getting 6.5.
You get the idea. This one could go either way, not just in the betting room, but on the scoreboard.
Some other potentially upsetting affairs to consider:
No. 12 Clemson (-2.5) at Georgia Tech, 12 p.m. If Yellow Jackets QB Haynes King is good to go, fuhgettaboutit -- this'll be a blowout in favor of host Tech. The crown jewel of the ACC for a decade, Clemson has the look of a middle of the pack team in the conference ... at best.
Wisconsin at No. 19 Alabama (-21.5), 12. A good opportunity for Kalen DeBoer and Co. to stem the tide of "next HC, please" that started rolling after a season-opening loss at FSU, but the 2-0 Badgers have their own chance to help Luke Fickell look competent. Spread looks too high.
No. 6 Georgia (-3.5) at No. 15 Tennessee, 3:30. Both 2-0, the Vols just seem too powerful on offense to be an underdog at home. Former App State star QB Joey Aguilar has looked great at the UT helm and the Vols are averaging more than 600 yards of offense per game so far.
No. 18 South Florida at No. 5 Miami (-17.5), 4:30. Is USF, with two wins over ranked opponents already, for real? Is Miami? To me, Bulls HC Alex Golesh is a rising star in the profession, and his squad will be competitive -- probably not enough to win outright, but to cover.
Florida at No. 3 LSU (-7.5), The Gators, ranked 13th, dropped out of the polls completely after being stunned by USF last week, but that may look foolish if they push the Tigers here, and they likely will behind QB D.J. Lagway.
BEST MATCHUPS (OR MOST INTERESTING TO ME)
No. 13 Oklahoma (-23.5) at Temple, 12. The Owls haven't been relevant since they scheduled this game almost a decade ago. But they're 2-0 under new HC K.C. Keeler, who will eventually be in the sport's HOF. Something may be brewing in Philly again. Perhaps competitiveness.
Pittsburgh (-7.5) at West Virginia, 3:30. The East's Backyard Brawl can get as heated and entertaining as any rivalry in the country. If Mountaineers LB Chase Wilson, a transfer from Colorado State who already has 3 sacks, can pressure Pitt QB Eli Holstein, watch out.
Villanova at No. 2 Penn State (no line), 3:30. It'll be a tough call as to which alumni base will have its noses held higher, but that seems predicated off which Nittany Lions' squad shows up. If it doesn't surpass the last two weeks, ummm, this could get weird.
Duke at Tulane (-1.5), 8. The QBs make this one. The Green Wave's Jake Retzlaff bolted last minute from BYU to get the starting job in New Orleans, and the Blue Devils' Darian Mensah left Tulane for greener (read: NIL $$$) pastures in the off-season, and he's damn good.
