So what's the beef, ND?

The Fighting Irish's issue with the ACC is completely nonsensical, but fittingly for an institution, a football program and their support system that are totally out of touch.

OK, here's the thing, ND:

You're not a member of the ACC. You're an affiliate that is using a link to the conference to 1) house all your non-football (read: in ND's case, meaningless) sports and give them the benefits of belonging to a conference, and 2) give your football program a nifty little safety net of a pseudo ACC schedule while maintaining the complete autonomy of being an independent.

Put simply, the ACC owes you nothing. Frankly, the Irish benefit far more from this kinda/sorta biz partnership than the ACC does ... since the conference's only real payoff comes if the ND football program finally comes on board and makes the Irish full-fledged members of the ACC.

Now, was it dumb biz by the ACC to pump up Miami over ND for the CFP? Perhaps. If nothing else, it was unnecessary. You really think the CFP selection committee was influenced by a couple of comparison posts by the ACC on social media? If so, think again. And keep doing so until the brain starts working.

To me, the AD popping off here is far more silly and lame and potentially damaging than the Irish's kneejerk "we're not going bowling" tantrum to being left out of the CFP.

More reality: Miami ain't the team that bumped out ND. Alabama is.
