Just watched ESPN's 30 for 30: Requiem for the Big East ...
Been a while since viewing this.
The creation of the conference, its instant impact on the entire college basketball landscape and as the No. 1 catalyst for ESPN ... man, never seen anything like it.
Was the greatest time ever, for me, with college sports as ESPN, fueled by its success with the OG Big East, exploded from broadcasting the conference to eventually expanding to show other conferences' games, women's college basketball and softball, men's baseball and the ultimate golden goose of the college sports -- football.
For me, the Mount Rushmore of the Big East:
Dave Gavitt, founder and its driving force.
Patrick Ewing and Chris Mullin, its two greatest players.
Pearl Washington, its most electrifying player.
None debatable.
